Celebrating Thanks and Giving

odthankspostcard

Entering its fifth year, GivingTuesday is a global day of giving, fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season the Tuesday after Thanksgiving — and helps counterbalance the materialistic frenzy of shopping that often overshadows what is meant to be a season of giving. Statistics show, for example, that while only 1% of the U.S. population believes that shopping is the reason for the season, the vast majority of Americans want to spend time with friends and family and participate in acts of kindness and generosity to improve the lives of others.

OpenDoors wholeheartedly supports this worldwide movement that reminds us to celebrate the joy, value, and sustainable benefits of compassionate philanthropy. Please join us and give what you have to share to children in need, at any giving level, but please consider joining the OpenDoors’ Elevation Fund. This is a new circle of giving that sustainably invests in local kids so that they, in turn, can learn to invest in themselves.

Since we live in a city where “Altitude Affects Attitude,” elevation has special meaning to us, but the Elevation Fund is more than a slogan. It is a vibrant, interactive circle of givers who ensure that we educate, elevate, and celebrate children who are challenged by multigenerational poverty as they strive to fulfill their highest potential. Donors who join this circle commit at or above the $1,000 annual giving level, either by pledging, giving monthly, or an annual one time gift.

We are extremely grateful to all our donors, but we specifically want to send thanks to those whoodelevation choose to give monthly, at any level, allowing for steady cash flow in unpredictable times and allowing for us to say, “yes” and extend special opportunities and much-needed resources to children when they need us most. Please consider a monthly contribution today, and for those monthly gifts over $83/month, you will become a member of the Elevation Fund, and help students  lift themselves and their families out of poverty.

Breaking the cycle of poverty means that someday they, too, will have the resources to give back and elevate others.  Invest in Children and Strengthen our Community.   The link to sustained giving is HERE.
