Extreme Sport and Extraordinary Spirit

The Perry family, who generously provides the large and splendid venue for our annual ‘Dig the Du’ offroad Duathlon event, doesn’t like to be  “fussed over.” They give back to their community in gigantic ways, but prefer to do so in a quiet and unassuming manner, just as their beloved Grammy Lew did.

Today, October 15th, our honoree Llewellyn LaBruce Perry would have been 99 years old.  I wish she was here…I wish she were on the OpenDoors board, leading the charge and tutoring in our schools.  Lew Perry was a woman far ahead of her time, and is loved and greatly missed by our community.

Dig the Du is also a community celebration of social justice and access to education for all children, and is only possible because of the shared passion and hard work of dozens of selfless volunteers, charitable sponsors, and enthusiastic participants. For the sake of helping deserving children, everyone pushed to their limits to make this fun and fabulous annual event a grand success!  Thank you to all our sponsors who made this possible.
