At OpenDoors Asheville, we believe that education is the prow of our ship and our students are our highest priority. Supporting students, kindergarten through college, means much more than helping them get better grades. We work with parents and schools to ensure that all students have the stability, resource, equity, and inclusion they need to thrive and ultimately reach their potential. By using a “whole child” methodology, students become inspired members of our community and break the cycle of poverty for themselves, and for generations to come.
Our investments in;
- Communities provide equity, inclusion, and access to opportunities for parents and students so they can meaningfully engage with their education and the larger world.
- Parents build confidence and connections, so they feel more resourced and can provide their students the tools they need to prosper. Strong parents offer strong foundations for children, who can then effectively develop skills alongside their peers.
- Students, along with support from their parents and the community at large, allows them to become active empowered adults who participate in community transformation to break the cycle of poverty for others.
