Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Art Affair is the Asheville party of the year — and a fundraiser that fuels opportunity for OpenDoors students. We like to say Educate. Elevate. Celebrate! This unforgettable evening raises funds for OpenDoors students and the programs that help them thrive — with plentiful food and libations, a spirited Live Auction, and a Silent Auction featuring 75+ pieces of original art, experiences, jewelry, and ceramics.

  • We’re headed to the beautiful Crest Center in West Asheville, about 4 miles from downtown. Use 22 Celebration Place or 30 Ben Lippen School Road for directions (maps may list it as Woodfin). Once you arrive, follow the serpentine road up and look for signage directing you to the Crest Center (not the Pavilion.)

  • Yes! Plentiful parking. There is an adjacent lot to the building, plus overflow parking a short walk away. We do recommend ride shares — and suggest pre-booking your ride home, since Ubers can be scarce when doors close at 11 PM.

  • Black Tie encouraged. Get creative. Polished meets playful. Rooted in Community. Unapologetically OpenDoors.

  • Purchase your tickets HERE. There are no physical or emailed tickets, your name will be on the list at check-in!

Pro tip: Pre-register your credit card when purchasing tickets for much faster check-in and check-out.

  • What happens when I arrive?

Starting at 6:30 pm, doors open for Classic Admission guests and the fun begins. Check in, grab a drink, explore auction items, and start bidding.

Our seated program begins at 8:00 pm. Doors close at 11:00 pm.

  • Yes — the auction can come to you!

Our offerings will be ready for online preview February 17, and Silent Auction opens for remote bidding on March 3. Just pre-register on our website to bid from anywhere so you’re ready when the action begins.

Can’t make the Live Auction but see something you love? Proxy bidders can be arranged for Live Auction items and Bid for the Cause.

Email Nancy Abernethy at nabernethy@opendoorsasheville.org to set it up.

  • Guests will be served an impressive array of hearty hors d’oeuvres, including vegetarian and gluten-free options. You will not go home hungry!

  • We’ve got you covered. A main bar will serve spirits, wine, beer, and specialty cocktails, plus two additional wine and beer bars throughout the space.

  • Thanks to Frugal Framer, auction items will be packaged and ready to travel home with you. Please plan to take your treasures with you at the end of the evening.

Thank you to our sponsors!

What is Art Affair?

OpenDoors’ annual Art Affair fundraiser celebrates students while raising awareness and critical funds to eliminate the opportunity and achievement gap in the Asheville community.

A black and white photo of a group of people at an auction, with some holding auction paddles numbered 110, 188, and 134, in a room with an exit sign overhead.
Three women standing on stage at an event, with one speaking into a microphone. The woman in the middle is wearing a white dress, smiling. The woman on the right is wearing a black dress, holding the arm of the woman in white. The woman on the left is smiling and dressed in a dark blue outfit.

Proceeds directly support OpenDoors students moving to and through college and career by providing increased access to education, enrichment, and other critical resources.

Two people, a woman with shoulder-length blonde hair holding a glass of red wine and a man with curly hair and glasses, looking at artwork in a gallery with brick walls. The artwork includes a black and white portrait and a large abstract painting.
A young man with dreadlocks stands at a podium in front of two microphones, holding a certificate. He is wearing a dark, patterned dress shirt and dark pants, and appears to be at an award or recognition event. In the background, people in formal attire are seated, with one man in a tuxedo and bow tie visible.

Thanks to generosity of donors, supporters, artists, and local businesses, last year’s Art Affair raised $340,000 for OpenDoors Asheville, which led to an increase in our students served, hours of tutoring, students at summer camp, and so much more.
